God's Truth Part 2

Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong. For like grass, they soon fade away. Like spring flowers, they soon wither. Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him, and He will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
Psalm 37: 1-8

For those of you who know me, you know that I’ve been a heavy metal music guy since I was like 13
years old. One of my perceived biggest challenges when I came to the Lord was my concern of what am
I going to listen to now. Thankfully I have found more than enough great music to listen to by Christians
that are also in bands.

This past weekend my wife and I were able to see two of my favorite bands, Disciple and Spoken. During
the show, the lead singer of Disciple gave his testimony. The following day at breakfast, I said to my
wife that my biggest takeaway from the concert was that while giving his testimony I could see the
anguish, pain and sadness in his eyes and non-verbal communication that he had lived his life in so many
ways and times that weren’t pleasing to God. That he felt so underserving of God’s love but as he said,
the good news is that we never were. I said to my wife that I can honestly say that I don’t think that I’ve
ever been that sad and heartbroken over the things I had done that were not pleasing to God and that I
pray that He would help me get to that point.

On Monday morning as I was making a delivery for work to Fargo I was involved in a traffic accident with
a cement road construction barrier that had been pushed into the interstate by a semi-truck during an
accident that happened right before I got to the scene. I hit the barrier at about 70 miles per hour with
the right side of my van and it caved in the entire passenger side of my van, only slightly pushing the
console into the driver’s side of the vehicle. By the grace of God I was able to walk away in my own
power with being relatively unscathed.
As a human being I of course would have liked God to answer my prayer in a different way than he did
two days ago but that is not my choice. However, I know these two things, first of all I had my morning
prayer time with Him and then had switched over to worshipping the Lord the way I do a couple of
minutes before the accident-I took delight in the Lord and He gave me the desire of my heart and
secondly, I trusted Him and He helped me.

It is with absolute awe for our Father that I even have the ability to write these words because by
human standards I should be dancing on streets of gold today but instead I get to share these words and
perspective to hopefully bring God’s goodness to His creation and children.
