VOID

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall
accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11

God’s word accomplishes God’s will. Sometimes we probably wonder if it’s doing anything, for
instance, when a sermon is preached and the crowd may seem quite glassy-eyed and rather
unmoved. We may be perplexed when the Gospel is preached and there are countless
individuals who seem quite resistant to it and have no interest in responding to it. We may doubt
its efficacy when we look at our country or our world at large, take a pulse on it, and find it so far
from Him and perhaps even quite happy to be as such. We may also find ourselves concerned
when we ourselves feel quite apathetic at the hearing or reading of it, which happens to all of
us, and quite a bit more than we often want to admit.

Remember the words spoken in Isaiah 55:11 today and contemplate this: God’s word has and
always will accomplish exactly what He intends it to achieve. If He wants to move the mountains
of a person’s doubts and ignite faith, His word will do it. If He wants to change the course of a
nation, His word will do it. If He wants people to hear it but that’s that for the day, that’s exactly
what it will do. If He wants to task us with sharing His word with others and they respond either
positively or negatively, guess what? His word will accomplish whatever He so intends to
ascertain.

God gave us the Bible with deep intentionality and a plan to accomplish myriad
objectives in the giving of it.

Our faith needs to stop being molded by the outcomes we think should be taking place and
rather put back in trusting that the plans of God are happening! They are unfolding before our
very eyes every day, and while we may not understand what we’re looking at, God does. God
knows where all things are leading and how He’s getting all of it where He has determined it to
go. God knows what His word is capable of, and He knows how to use it quite judiciously. Even
when you yourself are hearing or reading His word, God is accomplishing His plans, whether
you are aware of it or not. God’s word will provoke and prick a heart in an instant, whenever He
so intends it to be so.

We must kindle our faith to trust not in the outcomes, the perceived failures, the hoped wins, the
progressions we anticipate, but rather in the miraculous truth that God’s word is not returning to
Him void, but accomplishing what He pleases, prospering in the things for which He sends it.
Bring your heart and hope back to truths such as this which we must take by faith, but which
reward us with peace when we choose to embrace them. Even writing this today warms my soul
as I remember yet again that God is doing what He wants to do, how He wants to do it,
unthwarted by anyone and committed deeply to His glorious ends and our good.

Be blessed today!
